Alex mcCown
Vinyasa
Alex (she/her) believes in the power of yoga asana to increase awareness and bring the mind, body, and soul into a felt sense of harmony. By moving through postures, we can discard distractions and be present with the self. Alex encourages meditative moments in the beginning, middle, and end of classes to further release distraction of or attachment to the body, giving space to experience the entire pure being.
Alex likes to theme using the framework of the Koshas or “layers” of the body. The Koshas start at the outermost layer, the physical body, then move inward to the energetic layer, the psycho-emotional layer, the consciousness layer, and finally at the center-most core, the bliss layer. The Koshas naturally unfurl through the arc of a class, and by speaking to them, Alex encourages mindful attention to this journey inward.
Alex has a deep hope that this personal cultivation of harmony and peace within will walk off the mat with you and manifest in the world as more kindness.
Alex has been practicing yoga since 2014 and teaching since June of 2023. She studies and teaches vinyasa flow and yin yoga. Outside of practicing yoga, you’ll find Alex in the woods with her dog, Coco, or with the farm animal residents at New England Animal Sanctuary.
