studio policies

PYP has 1000+ people in and out of the space on a weekly basis. That’s a lot of bodies! Please adhere to the following guidelines so that we can make our community as welcoming and safe for each other as possible.

ARRIVE ON TIME

Your prompt arrival will ensure that we can maintain comfortable distance between students, and allow us to prioritize the security of the space and your belongings. To ensure the least amount of class disruption, we will allow late-comers to class up until 5 minutes after class begins, so as long as the class isn’t sold out.

STAY HOME IF YOU ARE SICK

If you are exhibiting any symptoms (fever, coughing, sneezing etc), please stay home.

TREAT EVERYONE WITH DIGNITY

We do not tolerate racist, transphobic, homophobic, sexist, fatphobic, or any other kind of discriminatory language.

RESPECT BOUNDARIES

We do not tolerate non-consensual touching, leering, or any comments about someone else’s body or physical appearance.

faq’s

  • We understand that occasionally things come up at the last minute, in which case you are welcome to give us a call or email us at info@theportlandyogaproject.com. We are happy to make exceptions, but please know that we will use our discretion if there becomes a pattern of last minute cancellations.

    • Our late cancellation window is 2 hours.

    • Members & Intro Special students who cancel within 2 hours of the start of class or no-show will be charged $5.

    • Class pass holders and drop-ins who cancel within 2 hours of the start of class or no-show will forfeit one class.

    • If a class is waitlisted or becomes full, we will release spots of those who have not yet checked in 3 minutes prior to the start of class. People waitlisted take priority over walk-ins when filling released spots.

    • On the waitlist and haven’t made it off yet prior to the start of class? Come on in… we can likely get you into class!

  • Please review our membership policies and fill out this form to suspend or cancel your membership 14 days prior to your next billing date.

  • Our members are able to bring two guests in per month. If your guest has never been to the studio before, fill out this form 24 hours before you plan to being them in and we will get them on the roster.

We ask that you please only use one guest pass per person.

  • No problem! Just please let the teacher know before class begins and if possible set up close to the door to limit any disruption of the class. For yoga classes, please do leave before savasana begins. We understand sometimes we may need to leave class unexpectedly… please do your best to leave quietly.

  • Pre-registration is not required, however, for evening and weekend classes we recommend pre-registering in order to ensure your spot.

  • Nearly all of our offerings are open to everyone, however, we sometimes host events, classes, and workshops that are intended for building affinity between people with similar lived experiences. We are constantly striving to expand representation in our staff and student community and hope that as many people as possible can find a sense of belonging at PYP.

  • You can read more about our tiered pricing model here.

  • Please do not hesitate to let us know if you have experienced something in class or in the lobby that made you feel unsafe whether with one of our staff or with another student. We have a reporting system in place and make every effort to reach reconciliation where possible. Your concerns will be taken seriously.

  • We believe in the value of our offerings and ask that people pay at the rate that feels suited for their life and resources, however, we understand that there are times where many people simply cannot afford to practice in a studio. Ask about our work/trade program or reach out and let us know if you need extra support to make your practice happen.
