Jenn Gelfand

Core and Pelvic floor

Dr. Jenn’s (she/her) yoga journey began over a decade ago when she took her first Vinyasa class in 2007. She was recovering from a running injury and seeking an alternative way to manage stress and remain active. She had no idea that yoga would become so much more to her over the years than a regular workout routine. Jenn began to appreciate the power of connection to breath and how yoga has the ability to influence our physical, emotional, and spiritual health.

Over the years, Jenn has practiced many styles of yoga in various studios throughout the country. She completed her 200hr teacher certification with Leslee Clark of Well Heart Yoga School in Falmouth Maine in 2015 and Yoga Assistant Training with Sue Jones and Ray Mucci of Prana Power Yoga in Cambridge Massachusetts in 2011 and 2017.

Jenn is a doctor of Physical Therapy with over 13 years of experience and the founder and owner of Root To Rise Physical Therapy & Pelvic Health located in Portland at The Portland Yoga Project and in Saco, Maine. She is a specialist in orthopedics, women’s health and pelvic floor rehabilitation. She draws from her knowledge of anatomy, physiology and movement science in order to create safe and intentional sequencing for her students. She is passionate about leading classes that are accessible to students of all levels and abilities. You will leave her classes feeling more confident, spacious, and balanced so that you can maintain a well rounded lifelong practice both on and off the mat.

In addition, Jenn offers yoga and pelvic floor workshops and leads dynamic anatomy education to yoga teachers in training for 200 and 300hr YTT programs. Jenn believes yoga is truly a gift and feels incredibly grateful to share it with this community
